CAPTURING STORMWATER WITH ATLANTIS FLO-VAULT
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
An established local builder purchased land to be developed into 14 housing lots in the heart of Matamata, Waikato - an area with ever-growing demand for residential housing.
Installation of a stormwater management system was essential to accommodate the influx of stormwater runoff from the 14 homes. The design required two stormwater modular soakage systems on opposite ends of the site that needed to be able to handle trafficked conditions and have capacity for a total of 604m3 of water infiltration.
OUR SOLUTION
Various stormwater catchment solutions were explored for the development. The Atlantis Flo-Vault Modular System was chosen due to its quick installation and cost effectiveness.
The Atlantis Flo-Vault Modular System is designed to capture surface water through infiltration, and then clean and filter the water before it is allowed to recharge the water table, providing moisture for surrounding vegetation. The infiltration tank system is the ideal way to manage stormwater runoff in permeable or semi-permeable soil conditions.
Geofabrics worked alongside an industry partner, local council, the contractor and the designers to ensure that the Atlantis Flo-Vault Modular System met all design elements for the project.
604 Atlantis Flo-Vault cubes were installed in two days by a four person team. Each cube takes only approximately 30 seconds to construct, resulting in a system that takes 70% less time to assemble compared to other panel formed tanks - which can take up to 2-3 minutes.
The site is now ready for the build of 14 homes and capable of handling the influx of stormwater runoff.
PRODUCTS USED
Atlantis Flo-Vault® Modular Storage System
- A structural lightweight modular system used to construct underground water storage. Can be designed to meet specific site conditions of any volume, shape or depth for residential and commercial applications
- Saves up to 70% in assembly time with lightweight tank modules that make installation quicker, taking less than 30 seconds to construct compared to panel formed tanks
- Maximises land usage & storage capacity and minimizes stormwater runoff
- Uses surface and underground infiltration techniques resulting in clean water that can be re-used or allowed to re-enter the natural water system
